What to digitise first in a pharmacy
Start where the losses are: expiry, stock counts and the counter.
Expiry first
Expired stock is money thrown away. Record batches and expiry dates for the medicines that move slowly, and let alerts do the watching.
Then the counter
A fast sale screen with your own prices removes arithmetic mistakes and gives you a receipt trail.
Then purchasing
Once sales and stock agree, reorder levels and purchase orders stop the shelf running empty.
Keep your paper registers where the law requires them
Some registers, for example for controlled drugs, have legal requirements. Check your regulator’s rules before you replace a paper register.
